How Do I Add My Credential to LinkedIn?

Two Ways of Adding Your Credential to LinkedIn

Create a post about your credential that will appear to your connections in your LinkedIn Newsfeed.

  1. Click on the LinkedIn 'Share' button at the bottom of the credential window. If you are not already logged in to your LinkedIn account, you will be prompted to do so.
  2. You will then be taken to LinkedIn's site, where you can choose to share as a post or as a private message.
  3. Write a message to accompany your certificate in your post or message and click Post/Send.

You will then have a lovely big statement about your achievement that is visible to all your connections. Do bear in mind, though, that this will drop through the newsfeed and become less visible as time goes by.

How Do I Embed a Credential to my Email Signature?

Embedding into an email signature works best with badges instead of certificates, which can look too big and bulky at the bottom of an email. For this article, we will only refer to embedding badges.

If you have a certificate and a badge for your achievement, you can embed the badge in your email signature, and with one click, people can be sent to view the whole certificate.

Even if you have a badge to embed and no certificate, having it lead back to your badge's live credential view helps people verify its validity.

Embed the Badge

1. Go to the credential view of the badge you would like to embed.

2. At the bottom of the credential window, click on the 'Embed' button.

If this feature appears grayed out or not visible, you may need to sign in to your credential to access it.

Embed into Gmail Signature

  1. In the 'Embed Credential' window that appears, click the 'Gmail Signature' tab at the top of the window and then the 'Copy Link' button next to your Badge Image URL.
  2. In a separate tab of your internet browser, open your Gmail account and click the cog icon (Settings) at the top right-hand corner of your view. In the drop-down menu, click 'See all settings.'
  3. Scroll down to the 'Signature' section. [Create a new signature if needed.]
  4. Click on the 'Insert Image' button at the top of the signature toolbar, then to the Web Address (URL) tab.
  5. Paste the Badge Image URL that you copied from the 'Embed Credential' window earlier.
  6. Once the badge image has appeared, click on 'Select' at the bottom left-hand corner of the window.
  7. The badge will now appear in your email signature. You can select the image and resize it to small, medium, or large if you like.
  8. Go back to the tab of your credential view. In the 'Embed Credential' window, highlight and copy your credential's URL of Step 5.
  9. Go back to the tab with your Gmail account signature settings and Highlight the badge image and click the 'Link' tool at the top of the signature toolbar.
  10. In the box marked 'To what URL should this link go?' past the URL you just copied, then click 'OK' at the bottom right-hand corner of the window.
  11. Once you are happy with the appearance of your overall signature line, scroll to the bottom of your Gmail settings and click 'Save Changes.'

Embed into Outlook Signature

  1. In the 'Embed Credential' window that appears, click the 'Outlook Signature' tab at the top of the window, then right-click the image of your badge. Select 'Save Image As' and download the badge onto your computer.
  2. Open Microsoft Outlook and click on 'New Email.'
  3. In the new message, the window goes to the 'Signatures' and clicks on 'Signatures' from the drop-down menu.
  4. Either create a new signature or select an existing one to edit.
  5. To the far right of the signature editing toolbar, select 'Add Image' and select the image of the badge you just downloaded.
  6. Go back to the tab of your credential view. In the 'Embed Credential' window, highlight and copy the red text, which is your credential's URL.
  7. Highlight the badge you have just uploaded to your signature and click the 'Link' button at the far right-hand side of the toolbar.
  8. Paste the credential URL into the 'Address' field at the bottom of the window that appears, then click 'OK.'
  9. Once you are happy with the appearance of your overall signature line, click 'OK' to save.

Other Email Clients

If you use an email client other than Gmail or Outlook, such as Yahoo, Hotmail, or Mac Mail, we recommend:

1. Downloading the PNG of your badge using the 'Download Badge' function in the left-hand sidebar of the credential view.

2. Go into the signature settings of your particular email client and inserting the PNG.

3. Highlight the badge image and use your email client's 'Link' function and paste your credential's URL into it. The URL is the web address for your digital credential.

4. Don't forget to hit save on any changes you make to your email signature.

How Can I Download and Print My Certificate?

Download a PDF Version of your Certificate

  1. Navigate to the certificate that you would like to download.
  2. Along the bottom of the credential window, click the 'PDF' button.
  3. A PDF version of your credential will appear. Save this onto your computer.
